I Need Help! Arrghh!
  • Spell check your work. I can't stress this enough. Nothing turns a reader off faster than misspelled or misused words.
  • Another set of eyes always helps - let a friend be an editor. Or if you're having trouble finding someone, e-mail me, I'll be happy to help you out.
  • Make sure you format correctly, depending on what site you are posting to, because the rules may be different.

So that your fanfic is readable to everyone, please follow these rules when composing the work:

  • Keep it to 70 characters per line! (any longer will wrap or run off some screens)
  • Single spaced lines
  • Left justify your text (as opposed to right, center, or full justification)
  • Do not use the TAB key for indents, use the space bar instead
  • Do not use smart quotes (quotation marks that curve, rather than straight ones that I have here around the words "smart quotes")
  • Do not use high ASCII characters those characters made by using various key combinations, such as [ALT] and a number for PCs, or [Option] and a letter for Macs)
To have your story posted on this site, just copy-and-paste it into an email message and send it to me!
